Prague, October 1, 2008: ILOL - a unique global institute for the research..

A unique global institute for the research of socio-economic trends, development of lifestyle, healthcare and social marketing

PRAGUE - Prague will become the seat of a unique research centre comprising top international experts and encompassing global research activities. The Institute for Lifestyle Options and Longevity (ILOL) was founded by recognised figures from foreign universities and experts in healthcare and social marketing. The ILOL will  officially launch its activities on 23 October 2008 at a professional conference where it will present key projects in the field of healthcare and the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare process management, social marketing, research and development and in further fields. The ILOL will benefit the Czech and international professional public particularly in providing information about the trends in future development which will be the driving force for development in healthcare, the social sphere and associated fields.

"We are an institute that does not build stone laboratories, but links together knowledge within top academic centres such as Britain's Birmingham University and Sweden's university in Umea, and the private sphere," says Marie Přibová, member of the Czech Marketing Society and the Harvard Club in Prague which is also a member of the ILOL executive management. The other members of the management of the new international institute are: Petr Štovíček, member of the international organisations in the field of cardiology and medical communication, George Tesar, professor of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a marketing and management consultant with many years of experience, and advisor to American governmental institutions and member of the International Trade Academy and Association for International Comparative Economic Studies. The general director of the ILOL is Lubomír Exner, an internationally recognised strategist in healthcare management and the pharmaceutical industry, member of the American SCIP and author of the first Czech book on marketing in healthcare.

The scientific board of the ILOL is made up of a six-member group of top experts from European and American research and university centres (a list of the members and their professional CVs can be found at http://www.ilol-think-tank.eu/)

"Everyone knows that in the third millennium the population in developed countries is aging. There is more talk of the grey force, i.e. senior citizens who form key social groups for their needs. Moreover the quality of life is coming to the fore in today's world as compensation for a career, business and wealth. On the other hand, there are countries where prolonged poverty is giving rise to a whole series of ethical, medical and social issues. All this is in the sights of the ILOL and all these issues are tasks that need to be resolved," explains Marie Přibová and adds that the institute intends to act as a consultant for governments and a partner of commercial companies contributing to such matters as research and production of drugs to save and extend lives. According to the words of the general director, the ILOL will be financed on the basis of international and state grants, sponsors for defined areas of research and donors.

The strong aspect of the new international institute is to be its "digitisation and computerisation" or the function of virtual research teams capable of transmitting data and communicating globally to make maximum use of the scientific capacities of its own and its parent institutes for dealing with a certain task or project. The first of the projects is targeted at the research of medical literacy and its partial results will be presented at the Prague conference on 23 October. This is an international project with partners being research centres in Denmark, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Turkey. "But research work at the ILOL will run at a parallel so we expect to launch and run two to three projects at the same time," added Petr Šťovíček.

It was the idea of the company Econtinuity Group to create the ILOL who is also the founding member. More information at www.econtinuity-group.eu
