Presentation of successful educational programme by HMC at the International Conference  on Communication in Healthcare: Training for improving effective communication skills in pharmacy: Development and evaluation of workshops  and e-learning for pharmaceutical care

Health Management Consulting, an internationally expanding education and consulting corporation introduced an interactive training programme for pharmacists, consisting of in-class workshops followed by e-learning, which enables participants to independently improve effective communication skills .

Effective communication is an essential aspect of high-quality patient care and core competency for pharmacists. We sought to tailor an interactive development cycle and improve skills rather than theoretical knowledge. This workshop and e-learning was a phase 1 in a series of long term projects leading to higher standards of quality in healthcare. Value - based projects on increasing quality of pharmaceutical care will follow, leading to improved quality  outcomes. 

Analysis of this successful project, which will be completed by more than 400 pharmacists during 2010, is going to be presented by HMC managers at the International Conference on Communication in Healthcare, which will be held in AACH, October 4-7, 2009 in Miami Beach, Florida, USA.
